Tribute to light – During the night of 11th September, every year since 2002, the Space Cannon 7000W lights, 44 for each tower, recreate with their beams the layout of the Twin Towers, in memory of the victims.
It is always a very emotional moment when the spotlights that re-create the virtual Twin Towers are switched on. Since the tragic events of the terror attacks the New York city council has relied on the professional competencies of Space Cannon for every anniversary.
The "Tribute in Light" is to be celebrated every year on the night of 11 September exclusively. The beams of light directed from the ground to the sky re-create from Ground Zero the silhouette of the Twin Towers standing out against the New York skyline, not only in memory of the victims but also symbolising the community spirit, the unity of the city and the drive to rebuild and look to the future while always remembering the past.
To obtain the two very powerful light beams, Space Cannon uses eighty-eight 7000W custom Leukos projectors, 44 for each tower. The beams are white light with a high level of light output, more visible even at a considerable distance.
The professional skills of Space Cannon were also demonstrated by the technical team providing qualified assistance and supervision for switching on the spotlights. Space Cannon takes Italian-made products beyond national borders, exporting not only high-quality projectors, but also know-how and technologies.
