SPACE CANNON MAKES JOHN LENNON'S AND YOKO ONO'S DREAM COME TRUE.
Space Cannon spotlights bring the message of peace and love dedicated by Yoko Ono to her husband.

"A dream you dream alone is only a dream
A dream you dream together is reality”.
Yoko Ono

In 1967, John Lennon invited Yoko Ono to lunch at his home in Kenwood, England, and described to her his vision. He told her he had visited one of her exhibitions at a London gallery, had been very struck by one of her conceptual works of art, "Light House”, and asked her if she would build it for him in his garden. Yoko Ono was convinced that one day it would be possible to develop her concept, but she did not know how. Today, forty years later, thanks to the technology of Space Cannon spotlights, Yoko Ono has been able to transform a dream into reality: light pouring from the ground towards the sky as the image and symbol of universal peace.

On 9 October 2007, the date of the sixty-seventh anniversary of John Lennon's birth, the spectacular PEACE TOWER was illuminated for the first time on the island of Videy, a few kilometres from Reykjavik, as a message of love dedicated by Yoko Ono to her husband – musician, poet, artist and peace activist. The work of art bears the inscription "IMAGINE PEACE” in 24 languages, to remind us all of the importance of peace in the world, her ongoing aspiration. Around one hundred thousand capsules were buried around the tower, containing peace wishes from all over the world, collected by Yoko Ono over the years. She chose Iceland because it is a place which suggests purity and spirituality. Videy Island is a small historical site, the tip of an extinct volcano, an expanse of lava rock.

The spotlights are to stay lit from 9 October to 8 December, the date of Lennon's death, to mark the cycle of his life symbolically. The powerful beam of light is also to illuminate the dawning of the New Year and to welcome the spring around the time of Easter and will also be lit on certain special occasions. The beam of white light, visible from the capital Reykjavik, was created with 15 Space Cannon Leukos custom spotlights fitted with xenon lamps, of which nine with 7000W and six with 2000W, basically the same spotlights that were used to create the "Towers of Light” in New York. Space Cannon spotlights will once again bring a message of peace, encouragement and inspiration in order to develop that sense of solidarity so greatly needed in today's world, a world now full of fear.
