LED is the technology of the future, an acronym for light emitting diode. The LED is extremely small with high lighting efficiency, which gives off less heat compared to conventional lamps and also allows the use of coloured light via the RGB additive colour mixing system based on the three primary colours, red, green and blue.
Lighting is instantaneous and the change between the chosen colours is seamless and accurate, allowing lighting designers total freedom in the creation of lighting projects. LED technology offers major advantages: guaranteed extremely low energy consumption (1 W per 140 lumens as compared to the 100 W required to achieve 12 lumens with incandescent lamps), high lighting efficiency and virtually zero maintenance costs, resulting in considerable energy and financial savings. Moreover, the LEDs' service life (approximately 50,000 hours of use) is longer compared to any other source of artificial lighting. This light source has extraordinary resistance to vibrations and impact as it does not contain moving parts, filaments or gas, which guarantees a high level of reliability in the course of time. It does not emit UV and IR radiation, is environment friendly and does not contain mercury.
